Music plays a big part in North Branch School’s annual production of “St. George and the Dragon.” From the rousing rendition of “Deck the Halls” that follows the words “Welcome, Yule!” to the playful “Fol-de-Rol” to the haunting “Lament” when St. George falls at the end of the sword dance, music sets each scene. If you have ever been at North Branch School during December, you know that the songs are heard not only at rehearsal time but throughout the day as students move about the campus. It’s the soundtrack to our December!
And where there is music, dancing can’t be far behind. Some of the dances performed here date back centuries! The show begins with the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance and the final selection is the dramatic sword dance. In between, there is much frivolity and stomping of feet.
