The escapades of Chester the Cricket, Tucker the Mouse, Harry the Cat, and Mario, whose parents own a newsstand in the Times Square subway station, delighted our Primary Blue students. After they completed this read aloud book, Krista asked them to each make a diorama of a favorite scene. Working at home, the children created unique and detailed displays. Fun fact: The Cricket in Times Square, written by George Selden and illustrated by Garth Williams, was first published in 1960 and won the Newbery Honor award in 1961.
