Learning about Change, Peace, Courage, and Love

On Friday, January 17th, students, teachers, and parents gathered for morning and afternoon assemblies. In the morning everyone learned a new song, “I’ll Make a Difference,” and Smith shared how this day of preparing for Martin Luther King Day would focus on change, peace, courage, and love. Classes spent the day exploring age-appropriate topics. The youngest focused on how to be a good friend, elementary students discovered ways to make a difference person-to-person, and our older students heard more about the Civil Rights movement, Dr. King’s message of change through nonviolence, and how there is more work to be done. North Branch will be closed on Monday, January 20th, to honor Dr. King and to allow families to take part in community events.
