This year’s Thanksgiving celebration included a new twist on an old tradition. Smith and students cooked the soup outdoors in a cauldron over a fire. This was a magic ingredient that made the soup even more delicious! (Many thanks to AgriSupply of Petersburg for the nonprofit discount on the cauldron!) Other highlights of the day included the traditional “Simple Gifts,” with the special NBS verse, and “Dona Nobis Pacem.” Preschool families gathered in the Big Room for their shared meal, while school-age families ate outdoors in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
