Today is Dr. King’s birthday and the nation will honor his life and works on Monday, January 21, this year. Since the holiday was established, North Branch School has been open on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to celebrate the life and works of Dr. King. It is not only a chance to learn from history but to imagine a peaceful and just world and take age-appropriate steps to make it so in our school, in our neighborhoods, and in our world. Community members are welcome to join us for a short assembly at 9AM on the 21st. Students will participate in age-appropriate special activities throughout the day, as well as regular lessons. Community members are welcome to join us again for an Assembly at 2:30PM, when each group will share something from their day. School-age children from outside NBS are welcome to join us for the day, so please invite friends and neighbors.
