Wow!!! As families return to school this week, we are excited to share the news that the signed guitar and poster at LockN’ brought in $127,500 to be split among the nonprofits on Participation Row! This is a wonderful component of the festival that allows attendees to interact with organizations and learn about their messages and missions. Organized by HeadCount, a group dedicated to registering voters, and sponsored by Ben and Jerry’s, offering free ice cream to draw in the crowds, the culmination of the event is a raffle drawing for a D’Angelico guitar signed by the musicians appearing on stage, and an auction with a signed guitar and poster.
North Branch School is honored to have been included on Participation Row all six years of the festival and we are GRATEFUL for the opportunity to tell people about the activities, explorations, and discoveries our students and teachers enjoy together. This year, 1,000 festival goers partnered in peace with our students by decorating garden markers for the Path to Peace created by NBS Seniors and Middle Schoolers. The markers also will be part of our students’ vegetable garden. The children donate their harvest, or proceeds from sales of produce when pantry distribution and picking time don’t coincide, to the Nelson County Food Pantry. In addition, our older students volunteer monthly at the food pantry, stocking shelves and bagging groceries.
The proceeds from the auction will have a BIG impact in our small setting and we are filled with gratitude!!!!
