While Middle School students’ final day to prep for KidWind Challenge 2018 was canceled, ironically due to high winds and widespread power outages, they will not be deterred. After a Saturday practice and prep day, the teams will head to Roanoke’s Science Museum of Western Virginia with science teacher, Maggie, and parent volunteers. The competition engages students in the exploration of wind energy through hands-on investigation and experimentation. The annual challenge gives students the opportunity to:
- Discover the promise and limitations of wind energy technology
- Design, build, and test a functional creative wind turbine
- Compete with their peers in a supportive environment
