Parent-Teacher Conferences, Nov. 4 & 5 (no school for students)

Thanksgiving 2010

The first part of this week was spent preparing the Thanksgiving soup. Everyone contributed vegetables and by Monday we had a generous pile to add. Students spent the week chopping vegetables with soup directors Lisa and Elizabeth. The older kids made cornbread, and on Tuesday evening we also had freshly pressed cider along with the soup. Before dinner, families attended the annual Thanksgiving program. The program began with the North Branch version of “Tis a Gift to be Simple” (which I think of as the North Branch theme song) and ended with “Dona Nobis Pacem.” In between were songs by different class groups as well as recorder and ensemble music.

Below, the Juniors sing a medley of American songs.

This next one was a particular favorite. Students start recorder in the third grade at North Branch – by the time they reach middle school they are pretty talented!
