Enrollment Information

APPLICATION & ENROLLMENT INFORMATION

North Branch is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit corporation dedicated to providing the best education at the lowest possible cost to families. A comprehensive financial assistance program is available.

Thank you for your interest in North Branch School. Listed below is an outline of the application & enrollment process.

Schedule a visit – tour the school, sit in on classes, and see for yourself what North Branch is all about.

Look through our website and watch the videos about North Branch on the video page.

Complete the one-page application and submit the form with your non-refundable application fee.

Application policies beginning for the ‘24-’25 school year:

The application fee will be $25 for preschool, and $50 for all other grades. This fee is non-refundable regardless of whether or not placement is offered. Applications are accepted when the application fee is paid.

Applications for the following school year may be submitted any time after September 15th of the current school year.   For example, applications for ‘24–’25 may be submitted any time after September 15, 2023.

If space is available, applications will be accepted for the current school year, during the school year.

Applications are valid for the school year for which they are submitted and do not remain in place for another year. We will not accept applications for a given class after we have five applicants in our wait pool. The wait pool for any class is unranked. When enrollment is opened for new students priority is given to siblings of returning students and to children of NBS staff.

2025-26 Wait pool application status:

Preschool – At this time the Preschool Wait pool is full & we are not accepting additional 2025-26 applications.

*Please contact Autum Fish (540-456-8450, northbranch@nbsva.org) if you have any application related questions.

Submit school reports/school work. If your child has attended another school, please submit the most recent school report you have and also a sample of your child’s writing (reports and/or creative), math work, and a brief list of the most recent books read.

Schedule a day for your child(ren) to visit. This is an important step for several reasons: your child becomes familiar with the North Branch setting as well as with staff and students, and staff get a chance to meet and know your child.

If your child requires specific resource work or instructional aid, please let us know so that staff and parents can evaluate whether or not North Branch will be able to meet your child’s needs adequately.

If you anticipate a need for tuition assistance, the administrator will put you in touch with the treasurer to discuss options.

Return the contract. If there is space and North Branch appears to be a good “fit” for your child, then you will be offered a contract for enrollment by NBS. The application and application fee are the start of the process; however, they do not secure a spot for your child(ren). To do this, a contract must be offered by NBS,  signed by parents and submitted to the school with enrollment fee.  Contracts are typically offered in early March for the following school year for new students.

North Branch School does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color or income and actively seeks minority students.
