At North Branch School, we are a community of readers. From story time with preschoolers to studying Shakespeare in Middle School, classes are actively reading fiction and nonfiction. For older students, the books often relate to a period of history or geographic location they are studying. Time is set aside each day for Independent Reading, allowing students to choose books that speak to them. I.R. reinforces the value of reading for pleasure and gives the students practice with decoding skills, fluency, and comprehension in a relaxed setting. We love books at NBS!
