Joy & health to you all summer long!

NBS Closed for Remainder of School Year, Remote Learning Continues

A letter from our Head of School, Smith Coleman

March 23, 2020

Dear North Branch Families,

As I am sure you are aware, Governor Northam has ordered public and private schools closed for the remainder of the school year. North Branch will continue with our distance learning program, but we will not be opening doors as hoped until we receive word from public officials that it is safe to do so.

As we proceed, it is my deep belief that because we are learning, reading, creating and playing at a distance, we will weather this crisis. We are a school, but we are also a community. Our families have been so helpful – feedback about our classroom procedures has allowed us to adjust for needs, and continue offering compelling instruction and connection. Because we value our social connection, we have wanted first to be a beacon for inclusion for students and families. We will continue to listen and adjust.

We will still be closed for spring break. During the week of April 6th-10th we will not be having classes. As this time approaches, we hope families will find ways to connect. Read together, cook together, play games and get out into the spring air.

As always, please feel free to contact me directly with any concerns, questions or suggestions.

Sincerely,

Smith
