NBS Closed for Spring Break: April 1-5

NBS Sings to Help Build a School in Tanzania – and YOU can help!

The entire NBS student body gathered for a Thanksgiving supper on Tuesday, November 22, and sang the song NBS students have sung for 28 years on this occasion:  “Simple Gifts.”  With the traditional chorus and a special verse written 28 years ago by Charlotte, this song is a perennial thank you to the world for sun, snow, earth’s creatures, and especially friends.

This year, students sang with a special purpose.  We recorded the singing to submit to KidsPlaceLive’s “Lalalove One Voice” project, the goal of which is to raise enough money to build a high school in Arusha, Tanzania.  Students there at the Shepherds Junior School cannot go to school beyond 7th grade because there is no building.  KidsPlaceLive (a satellite radio station out of Washington, DC) hopes to change that with this project.

Go to http://lalalove.org/entry/north-branch-school/ to see our wonderful community sing this favorite song.  If you like, click on the button to contribute any amount to the cause.  The school that raises the most money will get a special visit from two KidsPlaceLive DJs (Absolutely Mindy and Robbie Schafer), as well as a chance to host its own radio show.  Lalalove has 26 entries from 16 states, and NBS is proud to be one of those entries.

We hope you’ll join us in our efforts to build a school for the students in Arusha, Tanzania.
