DESCRIPTION:Blato Zlato\, featuring NBS alum Ruby Ross ’00\,  will be performing on the outdoor stage at North Branch School in Nelson County’s Afton\, VA\, a 25-minute drive from Charlottesville at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Please bring your own camp chair or blanket. Music begins at 7pm. (Please note: rain will move the performance inside.)\nSuggested admission price is $20 for adults and $5 for children over 5. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds\, but please support these wonderful musicians to the best of your ability. Concert proceeds help keep them on the road and making music.\n—–\nHailed as a band with “galactic ambitions\,” Blato Zlato is a powerhouse Balkan music collective that weaves the magic of traditional Eastern European folk music with contemporary textural majesty. The group captivates listeners with dark and haunting three-part vocal harmonies and thunderous odd-metered rhythms. As a part of the Balkan musical diaspora\, Blato Zlato explores the immigrant experience and seeks to build meaningful cultural and musical bridges between continents\, with particular focus on Bulgarian folk songs and Bulgarian language-based compositions.\nBased in New Orleans\, Blato Zlato has gained a loyal international following after touring in both the U.S. and Europe. The group has been featured several times on Bulgarian National Television and Radio and has appeared on Folk Radio UK\, NYC Radio Live\, and the Village Voice. In 2019\, Blato Zlato released their anticipated sophomore album\, In The Wake\, which charted at #33 on the Transglobal World Music Chart’s 2019-2020 Top 100 Albums. In 2022\, the band was selected as an Official Showcasing Artist at South By Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival & Conference. DESCRIPTION:Creative Construction Camp – Developing a Sense of Engineering and Building \nHeld at NBS and led by Anna Dolleris and Emmet Danley \nConstruction camp   Contact abdladybug@gmail.com for registration information. \nOur Goal for this camp is to help older children\ndevelop a love for creative problem solving and\nhands-on projects. During this week\, we plan on\nusing materials such as clay\, sand\, cardboard\, and\neven natural materials from our local woods to create\ncreative structures. We hope to use the theory of the\nscientific method to even test these structures for\ndurability\, strength\, and usefulness. Campers should\nbring their own packed lunch and we will provide\nhealthy snacks twice each day. We will be accepting\nchildren ages 7\, 8\, 9\, and 10.
